When we learn to speak, we progressively learn to focus on the sounds of our native language. This cognitive process called “linguistic encoding” happens during early childhood. The process is both necessary and extremely powerful. It later hinders our ability to adapt our listening to foreign languages.
We are able to develop new cognitive connections. This is called neuroplasticity. Pronounce aims to enhance this process by applying the Tomatis method®.
The brain needs to be surprised in order to learn and develop new skills such as speaking English. The dynamic filters built into the headset aim to produce this surprise effect in a natural and repetitive fashion.
The filters are specifically tuned to the frequencies of English, teaching our brains to pay more attention to them. Through repetition, our ears and our voice assimilate these frequencies and help us decode English more easily.
Language frequencies.
An important research project led by the European Union, with 128 foreign language learners, proved the efficiency of our method. To make our solution more accessible, we decided to develop the technology which would allow us to integrate it into a personal headset. This is how Pronounce came to life.
The study concludes:
“The students who have been trained to Hearing Perception (Tomatis®), can divide the time to learn a foreign language in half compared to the students who only attended a usual course without any Hearing Perception Training”
*The AUDIO-LINGUA Study was conducted over 3 years in 5 European Universities within the SOCRATES Program, the European Union Action Program for the transnational co-operation in Education. The study focused on the improvement of Auditory Comprehension and Oral Expression in learning a foreign language with the TOMATIS Method. This training isn’t based on grammar, vocabulary or syntax.
